Choke Enough (Deluxe)
ALBUM
choke enough (Deluxe) by Oklou is one of my favorite albums right now. She
just sounds so light and soft like she is floating over the music.
The album explores themes of self discovery emotional
vulnerability, and listening to it is an entirely immersive
experience.
02
This Is Happening
ALBUM
James Murphy pairs devastating lyrics with upbeat, almost
celebratory arrangements. Each song layers chaotic and contrasting
sounds that compliment each other perfectly. It's clever, sad,
danceable, and comforting.
03
The Bends
ALBUM
Just an extremely well done album. No skips, and has some of
my favorite Radiohead songs of all time. I have been listening to
this album a lot in the car recently, it just sounds so good, and
is even better when you know the lyrics.
04
Punisher
ALBUM
Front to back, Punisher is a masterpiece. Its a great time capsule of 2020. Every few months I hyperfixate
on
a song off of this
album and learn to appreciate her artistry even more.
05
Ivan Pokidyshev
ARTIST
Uses thermography to take photos of people then paint them into these glowing
figures. Explores themes of
science, life, love, and religion. Checkout his
instragram
here.
06
Amy Renee Webb
ARTIST
Her glass looking religious iconography is unreal. Also, she shares my love for neon
green. Checkout her
instragram
here.
07
Laura Footes
ARTIST
Really inspiring painter for me. I love her figures so much. Checkout her instragram
here.
08

Call Me by Your Name
film
Everything is so visually beautiful. I love the all of the shots
and the lighting and the scenery. Timothée Chalamet was the
perfect cast for Elio, he perfectly captures teenage embarrassment
and emotion. The mix of languages and cultures is also done really
well.
10
Love Lies Bleeding
film
My favorite shot is the egg yolks and cigarettes going into the
trash. Kristen Stewart and Katy O'Brian play off of each other
fabulously. At times, the timeline can be a little confusing, but
you realize by the end that they are not very concerned with
delivering a realistic storyline.
11
Parasite
film
Such a great story with amazing character development. This film
makes me anxious and uncomfortable in the best way. It feels like
I'm always bracing for something bad to happen, and then it hits
out of nowhere. The characters are so interesting, with traits
that are both relatable and frustrating. Visually, it's beautiful
too.
12
Gone Girl
film
Such a good thriller. I love the way the story is told. Rosamund Pike is
such an incredible lead, all of her monologues are iconic.
13
Money Heist
TV
The first few seasons are so well done. Each character is
developed so carefully, and the plot is intricate and satisfying,
even when things go wrong. It feels like a constant game of ping
pong.
14
Schitt's Creek
TV
Schitt's creek is probably the funniest show I've ever watched,
and it is comedic in such an intelligent way. I actually laugh out
loud so often. I was surprised by how visually pleasing it is too.
15
Sex and the City
TV
So much more fabulous than people give it credit for. Everyone
knows about the fashion, but every detail, down to what meal they
are eating during what scene is perfect. I know Carrie gets a lot of hate but she is
so funny and
entertaining to me.
16
Hacks
TV
Started watching this show after the Emmys. This is the kind of show you need to
watch 3 times because the
jokes are so fast and constant that you miss half of them the first time. I am so
impressed by the writing
and I often actually need to pause the show because I am in so much awe of how they
even came up with the line
that was just said. Great balance of comedy and plot.
